Abby Davidson ’25, a first-generation student, got involved right away when she came to Carthage. She is a part of the women’s tennis team, Carthage Pep Band, and the Jazz Ensemble. She is also a member of the Black Student Union, United Women of Color, Athletic Training Club, First Generation Club, and the president and founder of the Native American Student Association.

Favorite class

“My favorite class at Carthage so far has been Introduction to Psychology because I feel I have learned a lot about myself and how I can be a better athletic trainer during this course. The class teaches many diverse ideas, and I am excited to take other psychology classes in the future.”

Toughest class

“My toughest class at Carthage so far would have to be Human Anatomy and Physiology for the Health Professional. This class equips you with so much information, and I am glad to have had an awesome teacher! Everything you learn in this class is important, so you must retain all the information and ask questions when you have trouble.”

Internships or campus employment

“I have had the awesome opportunity of doing a work-study in the athletic training facility at Carthage. This has been such an amazing experience and has given me a chance to connect with the awesome athletic trainers here on campus. It has given me the opportunity to participate in shadowing to learn new things about my future career and ask questions!”

Favorite memory

“Some of my favorite moments and memories have been going to the events and activities offered at Carthage with my friends. I love going to trivia, bingo, the Kick-off Carnival, performances, and so much more.”

Biggest surprise

“The biggest surprise has been how easy it is to get involved in everything and how supportive the community is.”

Advice for other students in your major?

“Take every opportunity offered here and ask as many questions as you can. The faculty at Carthage want you to be successful in whatever you choose for your future.”

What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?

“My 8-year-old self would be excited that I get to pursue a career that highlights my love for athletics and helping others. I grew up playing and always being around sports. I also dreamed of doing something pertaining to healthcare, so I believe my 8-year-old self would be so happy!”
